Medicinal Uses of the Ginkgo Tree
Medicinal Uses of the Ginkgo Tree
Ginkgo trees have been used in traditional Chinese medicine since at least the 11th century AD. Written records suggest it may have been used for medicine even as far back as the Han Dynasty (206 BC–220 AD).
The Ginkgo tree was once known as "Baiguo" (white fruit), which now refers to the seeds. Traditionally, the flesh of the fruit is used to treat ailments such as asthma, bronchitis, and coughing; as an astringent; to reduce urine; and to treat sexual diseases.
